One night long ago (lol!) I decided to make carribean jerk chicken and used a marinade from the store. I totally forgot to marinade it so I cooked the chicken IN the marinade. It was the NASTIEST thing I have ever tasted! My Husband (bless him) was still trying to eat it when I grabbed his plate, threw it all away and ordered pizza. It was so bad, just thinking about it turns my stomache.

My first and last attempt at making daal. An Indian colleague gave me her recipe and I tried to make it at home. I bought all the different spices and the yellow lentils and ... well, let's just say that each person has their own definition of add "a little" water.
Instead of being the creamy side dish that I remembered from the local Indian take out; after hours of cooking, mine looked like a dry, powdery mix. It made a ton of it too and the worst part is that we had it for dinner (my husband put out a brave face and did not criticize - love you, honey!). The taste was good, but it would crumble off our fork as we tried to eat it and we drank a lot of water!

I would LOVE an apron!! I hope I can win :-)

I have TWO, each include a pan giving way and spilling out all over the oven. One was a pan of sweet potatoes, the other was my turkey. The turkey almost caught the house on fire!

What a great giveaway! I don't own an apron and I'm engaged to be married soon so I would love to win this to have something cook in for my soon to be husband :)

A cooking disaster would be when I was trying to cook a nice meal for our friends. We were having a double date night dinner and I burnt our meal pretty bad. We had to order pizza! :)

I attempted to make Austin's 1st bday cake, thinking it would be super easy [yeah, right]. I baked it in the Wilton Train cake pan and it was out of the oven around 7pm the night before his party. When I tried to ice it later that night, the cake started crumbling apart and crumbs were getting mixed into the icing. It was an absolute disaster and looked like a huge bomb. There was no way I was going to serve that at the party. So, I had to go out the next morning, an hour before the party started and try to find a bday cake at a local bakery. It was pitiful. I accidentally ended up buying one that was too small and we didn't have enough for everyone. :(
I'll never do that again!

I had a pot of soup on the burner and went outside to get something. I locked myself out! At the time I was living on the second floor of an apartment and the manager wasn't around. I finally climbed up balcony's and tore a screen out of a window to climb in. By that time it was smoking and the smoke alarm was going off!

I tried to make a chocolate pudding cake in the crock pot yesterday for my 4 yr old's half birthday. I think there was a combination of something I did wrong along with a bad recipe because it tasted awful and the bottom layer that was supposed to be gooey was actually more like chocolate soup (which wouldn't be bad if it at least tasted good!). My son was disappointed, but easily cheered up with the promise of brownies today that I will start baking in a minute.

Hmm...I have to say that my worst disaster involved fire as well. I set dinner on fire twice at my old house. There were several incidents of smoke as well!

I have a nasty habit of not reading the entire recipe through.
I marinated a roast in a lovely bourbon marinade, but forgot to read step #3 where it said to pour off the marinade before cooking. So I put the lid on my roasting pan and put it in the oven. Needless to say, about 30 minutes later it literally "backfired" on me as the bourbon exploded knocking the top of the pan and opening the door to the oven with a big ole KABOOM!!! My then boyfriend, now husband, was very impressed (and scared). But he still married me so I guess it wasn't that bad?
I'm still not allowed to cook with alcohol. :-) And I love a good apron!
